Election Day Stressed?

Election day was November 6th.

You probably have been asked this question probably like a gazillion times.

But did you vote?

Having to pick the best candidates for our vote is no easy task, especially since there are so many seats open that needed to be filled. We have to do the research, looking into each candidate. Understanding each candidate and see if their views coincide with our personal views. Well, at least you should that, and I’m sure to you did .

Well its past election day and I am here to help you de-stress. Did you know that breathing from your nose allows your lungs to get more filtered air.

1. Breathe…. slowly

Slow, deep breathing, even if only for a couple of minutes will dramatically decrease stress in your body. Breathing is something that you do everyday and anywhere. So I urge you to relax, at every opportunity you get. Evaporate your tensions by breathing, allowing yourself to think clearly.

You can practice this while you read, your nose is an olfactory that purifies our oxygen from toxics as we breathe in. This is why when taking deep breathes be sure inhale from your nose.

There you go... inhale from your nose and exhale from your mouth or nose as long as you feel great doing it. Smile while as you inhale and exhale, enjoy you purified oxygen. Speaking of oxygen and clean air, does your candidate share your views on the environment. The candidates who are voted in will play a vital role in how we as society do keep our air as pure as possible.

To practice controlling your breath place one hand on the chest and the other hand on your belly, now inhale through your nose, ensuring that the diaphragm (not the chest) inflates with enough air to create a stretch in the lungs. You will feel you hand thats on your chest expand. Now the goal is to take 6 to 10 deep, slow breaths per minute for the next 10 minutes to experience immediate reductions to heart rate and blood pressure. if you want gain mastery of your breath keep at it for six to eight weeks, and those benefits might stick around even longer.

2. Sip on tea, some Green Tea

Instead of turning red with rage over the mid-elections, get some color back in your face with a delicious cup of herbal green tea. Green tea is a source of L-Theanine, a chemical that helps relieve anger. Yes, it will alleviate some of your anger. Very simple to make as well, simply boil some water, pour it out into a cup with your favorite brand of green tea bag, and take a soothing sip. You can even practice number 1 while you wait for your green tea to cool down a bit.

3. Slurp Some Honey

Replace stress with some natural sweetness and have a spoonful of honey. Honey is natural skin moisturizer and antibiotic, but honey also reduces inflammation in the brain, meaning it fights depression and anxiety. You can even put some honey in your green tea for 2 in 1 effect. Alleviate anger and anxiety in big swoop.

4. Take a Quick Walk

Walk it out! All you tension, anger, anxiety or any ill feeling by taking a brisk walk outside. So you’re feeling overwhelmed or having trouble concentrating, talking a short walk will allow you to think more clearly. You’ll get the benefits of alone time, physical activity, and a few minutes to gather your thoughts! Bring your green tea with honey along with you. You will feel relaxed, clear headed and be one with nature.

These four tips to reducing your stress are vital especially after this mid-elections. Everyone is tense about political views and agendas, how about you take some time for yourself. The politicians are not going anywhere, but your stress should take a leave. Breathing is extremely important and vital to our survival, so taking a conscience effort to breathe properly will help you alleviate stress. You will the difference in your decision making once you master breathing and follow the other 3 tips regularly in your life.
